My First Meal Review
Dinner was two hours ago, & our Chocolate Honey Cake (recipe by: Nigella Lawson) is cooling while I write our first dinner review ~ but we'll discuss my cake review a bit later.

The Meal

The Meal |
Lamb Shoulder Chop (broiled)
- My wife knows that I like lamb & cooked it especially for our meal (Note: MY WIFE HATES LAMB!)
Spiral Ham (from the grocery store)
- I'm not a big fan of ham, but it's Easter!
"Mandolin" Sliced Au Gratin Potatoes
- For some reason it is important that I add that the potatoes were hand sliced with a "mandolin" slicer

Au "Grats"...yummy "cheesy" pleasure |
- I really don't like vegetables but she makes me eat them
Ham (Grade 5 forks)
Ironically, the ham was the best part of the meal. (You may recall earlier I stated I did not like ham) But this ham was moist, & sweet -- and when I asked what "special ingredients" were included in the preparation of the ham, she stated:
"I didn't do anything to it. You can ask anybody, & they'll tell you, ham is already cooked when you buy it at the grocery store. We just heat it up" (hmmm...)
Roasted Asparagus (Grade 4 forks)
My body's been craving vegetables. (Yes, I know I told you I don't like vegetables, but sometimes the body knows better than the mind) Although not as firm as I would have liked, the asparagus were my next favorite dish. Again, I asked what was the special magic used to prepare such as delight, as I sensed some crunchy edible adornments...almonds perhaps? To my chagrin, I was informed again that nothing special was added -- just olive oil, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper.
I guess my wife, is a bit humble, or as we like to say around the home, her meals "are simply cooked with love".
I won't say much about the Lamb Chops & Au Gratin Potatoes at this time, other than they earned 2.5 forks.
I'm trying to delay my foray into the cake for as long as possible. However, the cook has already tasted her desert and she stated it was delicious!
Note from wife: I'm working on my review of the dessert. It was delicious! I think the sugar overload has given me writer's block. I gave up chocolate for Lent so I can't put into words how much I was looking forward to the return of chocolate to my diet. This cake did not disappoint! More to follow when I wake up from my sugar coma......
